MONITORING HUNDREDS OF CHANNELS ON ONE SCREEN

Rangecast supports simultaneous monitoring of hundreds of broadcast channels, with individual on/off selection control of each channel.  These controls are right on the player, and every user can independently choose his own selection of channels to monitor.

For example, this page shows about 200 public safety broadcast channels in eastern Massachusetts.  You can turn all channels on/off with the "All +/-" control, and press on each channel to individually toggle the channel on (green) or off (red).

On average, in every 1 minute, about 8 minutes of audio is recorded from these hundreds of channels.  Therefore, if you try to listen to everything, you will fall farther and farther back in time - transmissions are queued and played in sequence, so nothing is missed.

In practice, this kind of control panel is useful for the dynamic ability to choose precisely the set of channels of interest at a particular moment.  If an incident involves multiple agencies, or affects a wide geographic region, you can activate all the relevant channels at your monitor station.  Also, the large selection gives you instant access to content from any available agency.
