Rangecast FAQ
[FAQ-1056] About the Hub Status Page

Page Type: INTERNAL

SUBJECT

Each hub has a web interface providing extensive information about the hub's status, performance, content, and activity. Data from all the hubs are reported on the Status Page.

Because the Status Page also includes administrative controls, access is restricted to authorized administrators.

OVERVIEW

Each hub has a web interface providing information about the hub's status, performance, content, and activity. In addition, the status page provides access to administrative control functions. Therefore, access to the status page is restricted to authorized administrators. The page for hub 'example' may be accessed from 'rangecast.com' by entering username '_server@example' and a valid password for Java user 'admin@example'.

METHOD

To access the status page,

1) Go to 'www.rangecast.com'

2) Enter username '_server@example' (where "example" is replaced with the name of the hub you wish to access). Note the leading underscore.

3) Enter a valid password for Java user 'admin@example'. (Note this is a Java user account, not a HTML5 user account.)

EXCEPTIONS

To access a hub's status page, you must know a valid password for user 'admin@example' (where 'example' is replaced by the name of the hub) in the Java system.

For HTML5 users, an 'admin@example' account for Java may be created to provide status page access, even if the Java player is never used.

REFERENCE

Once in the status page environment, ALL actions that can affect performance are accessed through the "advanced" option. Without pressing the "advanced" link, interaction with the status page is purely observational -- it is safe to press any other links, without the risk of having any effect on system performance.
